Bath re-enamelling in Ae without replacing anything

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths. Nothing is disconnected or removed. If you’re dealing with chips and rust in more than one place and a peeling or bubbling previous coating, we can typically put it right, on pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths alike.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Repair or replace in Ae?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What you get with us

  • Nothing taken out or refitted

FAQs for Ae

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so nothing else is disturbed.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Landlord and trade work in Ae

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Ae use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

How it works

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. Once we are there, the work takes the best part of a day. We leave the room clean.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Open a window if you can

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We take into account:

  • The type of damage
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether we combine several jobs

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Getting a price from photos

When you take your photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Where you are, by postcode

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

When we’d advise against a repair

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.
