Bath re-enamelling in Bill Quay without replacing anything

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. Typical jobs include wear marks under the taps and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean, across Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

What happens on the day

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. It usually takes the best part of a day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Bill Quay?

In hard water areas, limescale and the cleaning it needs wear enamel faster, and abrasive cleaners do the most damage.

Most people contact us when they notice something like this:

  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean

What a repair cannot fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths

Why repair rather than replace?

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Resurfacing renews the entire surface without moving it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Why us?

  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

See our full price list or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Bill Quay. The price reflects:

  • The material
  • How many areas need work
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How to get a fixed quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Any details about the material
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

How to look after the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it

Dry the bath after use if possible, especially in hard water areas, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.
