What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Bloodman's Corner. The price reflects:

  • How much damage there is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • What the surface is made of

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

How to get a fixed price

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Why repair rather than replace?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

How the visit works

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes a full day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Let us know about parking or access

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

When we’d advise against a repair

A repair is not always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
