Bath re-enamelling in Bonwm

Bath re-enamelling in Bonwm, done in place

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. Whether it’s worn patches where water runs and sits and chips and rust in more than one place, we can help, on acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays alike.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are covered after the visit.

When we would advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

How the visit works

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. Once we are there, the work takes most of the day in most cases. The room is left tidy.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

Landlord and trade work in Bonwm

Letting agents frequently send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Bonwm use us as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Avoid suction-cup mats

Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:

  • The material
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Access to the area
  • The size and number of damaged areas

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The material, if you know it

Send us a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your LL21 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Bonwm questions

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed price based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the whole item and your postcode.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Is there a smell?

A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a bath usually involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and typically one day, with the bath ready the following day. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
