Bath re-enamelling at your home in Briery Hill
After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. We’re often asked to fix a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and several chips and rust patches, on acrylic baths, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Work for landlords and builders
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Repair or replace: which is better?
Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Re-enamelling is one technician, generally one day, with the bath back in use the following day. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

The process
When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes the best part of a day. We clean up when we’re done and let you know when you can use it again.
- We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
- The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
- We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
- We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
- The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the following day.
Before we arrive
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
Ask for a price
The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos through our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.
Related advice
Can I fix it myself?
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.
A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Questions from Briery Hill
Which areas do you work in?
All of Blaenau Gwent, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.
Will the new finish last?
A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.
Is it messy?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.
Does someone need to be in?
Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.
Will there be fumes?
Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.
Is there a guarantee?
All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.
How long does re-enamelling take?
Most baths are done in a day, ready the next day. We will confirm timings when we quote.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Looking after it afterwards
Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:
- Repair dripping taps early
- Get any chip repaired quickly
- Respect the curing time we give you
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.
If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
What we cannot put right
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:
- Holes rusted through the metal
- Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
- A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.
