Bath re-enamelling for Burton Waters homes

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Burton Waters

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Whether it’s a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping, we can usually put it right, on cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays alike.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • What the surface is made of

Compared with replacing, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Getting a price from photos

Phone pictures are fine. Make sure they show:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • The material, if you know it
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Questions from Burton Waters

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

Is there a smell?

Yes, while we’re applying the finish. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

What areas do you cover?

Across the UK, and that includes Burton Waters. Prices don’t change with location.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Prices start from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You’ll get a fixed figure before booking.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

What happens next?

You will get a fixed quote back, plus dates. You are under no obligation.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Re-enamelling is one technician, usually one day, and the bath is usable the day after. Prices start from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

What you get with us

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

When we’d advise against a repair

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays

The process

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take a full day. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s usually ready the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Ask for a price
