  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Camb

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, with the bath ready to use the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. We’re often asked to fix brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and an outdated colour you’d like to change, in acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Prices start from £350. We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Camb. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

What we do, step by step

We agree an arrival time beforehand. On site, it takes the best part of a day for most jobs. We leave the room clean.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Ask for a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

What we are called out for in Camb

Enamel wears gradually. Years of cleaning, hard water and hot baths dull the surface, starting where water runs and sits.

Look out for any of the following:

  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring

Our hiring checklist

Keeping it looking good

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material and finish
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

How to get a fixed quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Most customers in Camb get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.
