Bath re-enamelling at your home in Camps Heath
We re-enamel plenty of period and roll-top baths, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. We’re frequently asked to fix a roll-top that’s seen better days and a coloured bath you want in white, across basins & shower trays, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths.
We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
What we are called out for in Camps Heath
Hard water speeds up the wear, and abrasive cleaners do the most damage.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
- Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
- Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
- An outdated colour you’d like to change

Why repair rather than replace?
Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
Why Camps Heath clients choose us
- Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
- No extra charge for your area
- Most jobs done in one visit
- Colour-matched on site

Keeping it looking good
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
- Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
- Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
- Have chips seen to early
Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Fix dripping taps quickly.
Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.
What happens on the day
We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you’re not left guessing. Once we are there, the work takes the best part of a day for most jobs. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.
- We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
- The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
- We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
- We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
- Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.
Getting ready for the visit
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
- Open a window if you can
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
How to get a price
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.
Related advice
Different materials, different repairs
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.
Camps Heath: your questions answered
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.
Will the bath be moved?
No. We resurface it in place, so the tiles and taps stay put.
What happens next?
We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.
Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?
Yes, frequently. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
Will it make a mess?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.
Are you accredited?
Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.
Are there extra charges for Camps Heath?
We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.
