Bath re-enamelling in Cathedral Quarter

Bath re-enamelling in Cathedral Quarter, done in place

We do not move the bath, so the taps, tiles and plumbing aren’t touched. It usually takes one visit, and can be used again the day after. If you are dealing with an original cast iron bath that needs restoring and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it, we can help, whatever the material.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are covered after the visit.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • What the surface is made of
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Access to the area
  • How many areas need work

We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Cathedral Quarter. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

How to get a fixed quote

Two or three clear pictures are normally enough. It helps if you send:

  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

Email us a picture of the damage and one of the whole item, with your S1 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Why repair rather than replace?

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Prices start from £350. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Cathedral Quarter questions

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Are there extra charges for Cathedral Quarter?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

What information do you need?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. We resurface it in place, so nothing else is disturbed.

What areas do you cover?

All of Sheffield, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

How the visit works

We begin by going over the job with you. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. You can expect it to take a full day.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the day after.

How to prepare

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Cathedral Quarter?

By the time a bath is a few decades old, it may have a mix of issues: dull areas, chips, rust and staining. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough

What to look for in a quote

  • What aftercare is recommended
  • If travel is included in the price
  • How your room will be protected
  • Whether they match the colour on site

How to compare quotes

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Fix dripping taps quickly

Dry the bath after use if possible, especially in hard water areas, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details and we will handle the rest.
