Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Drift

What happens next?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

How long does re-enamelling last?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and it’s guaranteed for a year.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Drift?

Bath re-enamelling in Drift without replacing anything

Most baths are re-enamelled in a day, with the bath ready to use the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. If you are dealing with chips and rust in more than one place and a coating lifting around the plughole, we can usually put it right.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Drift and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

What we can’t put right

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

10 questions to ask before booking

Landlords, agents and businesses in Drift

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Drift use us as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

How the visit works

Your technician turns up when we said we would, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take a full day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s normally ready the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Make sure the area is dry

Advice

Should you replace it?

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Prices start from £350. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why book with us

  • Colour-matched on site
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
