Bath re-enamelling in Eastgate, done in place

If your bath is sound but looks tired, re-enamelling is usually the most cost-effective option. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. Common call-outs are for several chips and rust patches and staining under the taps and around the waste, in pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the entire room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What happens on the day

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, and get on with the job, which typically takes most of the day. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Advice

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The type of damage
  • Access to the area
  • The material

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

Send pictures for a quote

Phone photos are fine. Make sure they show:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • What it’s made of, if you know

If you are in Eastgate and want a price, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

When we would advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Eastgate?

The gloss on enamel is thin, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • Chips and rust in more than one place

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • When it can be used again
  • How the colour is matched
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers

Our hiring checklist

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Questions from Eastgate

Does re-enamelling smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.

Is there a call-out fee?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We come back with a fixed quote, plus dates. There’s no obligation to book.

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.
