Bath re-enamelling at your home in Elton

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. Typical jobs include a coating lifting around the plughole and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off, in basins & shower trays, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll come back.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing renews the entire surface without moving it. Prices start from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

When a repair is not the answer

A repair isn’t right for every job, including:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

What we do, step by step

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Allow the best part of a day from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and how to care for it.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Repairs by material

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Work for landlords and builders

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. There’s no charge for travel to Elton. The price depends on:

  • What the surface is made of
  • The colour and finish to match
  • The type of damage
  • How many items we do on one visit

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Send photos for a quote

Two or three clear pictures are generally enough. It helps if you send:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures using our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Common problems we fix in Elton

Hard water speeds up the wear, and gritty cleaners are the worst culprits.

Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:

  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A roll-top that’s seen better days
  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean

What your quote should include

  • How the colour is matched
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • How soon you can use it again

10 questions to ask before you book

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
