Trusted bath re-enamelling in Essendon

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Plan for a full day. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Clear the area around the damage

Getting a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Bath re-enamelling in Essendon, done in place

Most baths are re-enamelled in a day, and you can use the bath the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. We work on pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays, and common reasons people contact us are stains that won’t shift and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

What we are called out for in Essendon

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and scrubbing it wears it down further. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

Contact us if you’ve noticed:

  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Lots of chips and rust spots

What your quote should include

  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Who turns up on the day
  • How your room will be protected
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.

What a repair can’t fix

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A metal bath with a through crack

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Aftercare tips

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Repair or replace in Essendon?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Prices start from £350. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Essendon. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Landlord and trade work in Essendon

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Can I fix it myself?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Essendon

Do you come to Essendon?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Essendon. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Most baths are done in a day and can be used the day after. We give you timings with the quote.

Is there a smell?

A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.
