Bath re-enamelling for Fivemiletown homes

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Fivemiletown

Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. Typical jobs include a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and a coating lifting around the plughole, on cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays.

Every job is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

What happens on the day

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take the best part of a day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Repair or replace: which is better?

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Nothing else is disturbed. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • What kind of damage it is
  • The material and finish

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Quotes from your pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A picture taken from further back
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

For a price in Fivemiletown, photos are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Can I fix it myself?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Fivemiletown questions

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before.

Does re-enamelling smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It clears as the finish cures.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

How do I book?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

For landlords and businesses

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
