Hawstead Green questions

Will there be fumes?

Yes, while we are applying the finish. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.

Will the new finish last?

It depends on preparation, use and care. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and it’s guaranteed for a year.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Hawstead Green

A re-enamelled bath looks and feels like a new one, without any of the disruption of replacing it. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. Whether it’s a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and an outdated colour you’d like to change, we can normally put it right, on Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays alike.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will sort it.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. You won’t pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The material and finish
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How much damage there is

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed price

Two or three clear pictures are normally enough. Try to include:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

Why us?

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Fixed prices from your photos

  • Typically one visit, start to finish

Work for landlords and builders

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

If you manage property in Hawstead Green, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we’ll price them together.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take most of the day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
