Bath re-enamelling at your home in Hoe
Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without a refit. It’s the answer when the entire bath is tired rather than one spot. We work on Victorian roll-tops, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths, and common reasons people contact us are a bath in a colour that no longer suits and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it.
A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £350. You won’t pay by the hour. The price depends on:
- The colour and finish to match
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
Getting a price from photos
Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- Natural light rather than flash
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
What we do, step by step
On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes most of the day. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.
- The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
- The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
- We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
- The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the following day.
How to prepare
- Ensure the area is dry
- Clear the area around the damage
- Open a window if you can

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Hoe
Do you cover Hoe?
Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Hoe and the rest of Surrey. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
Do you hold any accreditations?
Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
What happens once I’ve sent pictures?
We come back with a fixed price, usually with dates to choose from. You’re under no obligation.
How long does re-enamelling take?
Normally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners in Hoe.
Is the work guaranteed?
All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.
Can you make a coloured bath white?
Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.
Will it make a mess?
We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.
Repair or replace in Hoe?
Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the whole room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Prices start from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Hoe
Previous coatings can fail too, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.
Keep an eye out for these signs:
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating
- Lots of chips and rust spots
- An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
- A coloured bath you want in white
Questions to ask before booking
- Whether they match the colour on site
- How your room will be protected
- How long it needs to cure
- What the guarantee covers, and for how long
DIY kit or professional repair?
A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
How to care for the repair
Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:
- Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
- Store bottles off the bath
- Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse away any product left on the surface.
Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

When we would advise against a repair
We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
- A metal bath with a through crack
- A bath that is rusted through
Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.
Materials we repair
- Pressed steel baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Acrylic baths
- Cast iron baths
- Victorian roll-tops
Different materials, different repairs
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
Pressed steel
Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.
