Bath re-enamelling at your home in Howe Green

We don’t move the bath, so the taps, tiles and plumbing are not touched. Most baths are done in one visit, and can be used again the day after. Common call-outs are for thin, worn enamel in places and stains that won’t shift, in cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

For landlords and businesses

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Howe Green as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Howe Green?

Hard water speeds up the wear, and abrasive cleaners do the most damage.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • A roll-top that’s seen better days

Questions to ask before you book

  • How to care for the finish
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • Whether the price covers travel

10 questions to ask before you book

Aftercare tips

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Have chips seen to early
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Store bottles off the bath

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, and rinse off any bath products.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time, and each one adds to the preparation. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

How the visit works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for the best part of a day from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to care for it.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Advice

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the entire room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why book with us

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

Different materials, different repairs

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

When we’d advise against a repair

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Howe Green

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Resurfacing from £350. Every job gets a fixed price from your photos. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your CM2 postcode.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

Can you quote from photos?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.
