How we handle bath re-enamelling in King's Acre

If your bath is sound but looks tired, resurfacing is normally the best value. There is no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. Whether it’s a bath in a colour that no longer suits and thin, worn enamel in places, we can generally put it right.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

What affects the price in King's Acre

Prices start from £350. You will know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • The type of damage
  • The material and finish
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether we combine several jobs

We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for King's Acre. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A photo taken from further back

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It generally takes most of the day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

How to prepare

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Advice

Why repair rather than replace?

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish without moving it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

How to look after the repair

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in King's Acre?

Older baths frequently have several problems at once: dull areas, chips, rust and staining. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough

Choosing a repair company

King's Acre: your questions answered

Is repairing better than replacing?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Do you need to take the bath out?

Not at all. We work on the bath in place, with the room protected and ventilated.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

How do I book?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787.

Will the price change on the day?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Do you work in King's Acre?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to King's Acre from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Prices start from £350. We give a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the entire item with your HR4 postcode.

Will there be fumes?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.
