Bath re-enamelling in Lauder, done in place
We re-enamel a lot of period and roll-top baths, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. We regularly repair Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and acrylic baths, and the jobs we see most are a roll-top that’s seen better days and a peeling or bubbling previous coating.
You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Different materials, different repairs
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
What we do, step by step
Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes most of the day. If anything looks different from your photos, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.
- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.
Getting ready for the visit
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
- Point us to the nearest place to park
- Open a window if you can

Common questions in Lauder
Does re-enamelling smell?
Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.
How do I book?
Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787.
How durable is a resurfaced bath?
A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.
Do I need to be at home?
We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.
Is there a call-out fee?
Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.
Do you work in Lauder?
Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Lauder. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
Will you leave a mess?
We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.
Prices and what affects them
Resurfacing from £350. Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:
- How many items we do on one visit
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- How many areas need work
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
Send photos for a quote
You can take the photos on your phone, there is no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- Something in shot to show the size
- Natural light rather than flash
- Details of any past repairs
Upload a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your TD2 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.
Looking after it afterwards
A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:
- Fix dripping taps quickly
- Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
- Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, particularly with hard water, and rinse off any bath products.
Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
What we’re called out for in Lauder
Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, peeling around the waste or bubbling. We strip what’s failing and start again.
Keep an eye out for these signs:
- An old resurfacing that’s failing
- Stains that will not shift
- A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
- A coloured bath you want in white
What your quote should include
- A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
- How your room will be protected
- Who will actually do the work
- What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
When a repair is not the answer
We will not take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:
- Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
- A metal bath with a through crack
- A bath that is rusted through
Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
Materials we work on in Lauder
- Basins & shower trays
- Cast iron baths
- Acrylic baths
- Pressed steel baths
- Victorian roll-tops
Should you replace it?
Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

For landlords and businesses
Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Lauder as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.
