How we handle bath re-enamelling in Llandyfrydog

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. Common call-outs are for worn patches where water runs and sits and a peeling or bubbling previous coating, across pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

How to look after the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further.

When we’d advise against a repair

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we work on in Llandyfrydog

  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. There’s no charge for travel to Llandyfrydog. The price comes down to:

  • What the surface is made of
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before booking.

Quotes from your photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Natural light rather than flash

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

The process

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take most of the day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

How to get a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Llandyfrydog: your questions answered

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Will the bath be moved?

No. We resurface it in place, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Do you cover Llandyfrydog?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Llandyfrydog. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Llandyfrydog

For anyone letting property in or around Llandyfrydog, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we’ll price them together.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Common problems we fix in Llandyfrydog

The gloss on enamel is thin, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • A roll-top that’s seen better days

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
