Bath Re-enamelling for Meads homes
Fixed-price bath re-enamelling in Meads and the surrounding area, normally in one visit.
- Resurfacing from £350
- An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
- An outdated colour you’d like to change

Common problems we fix in Meads
Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.
Send us a photo if you notice any of these:
- Staining under the taps and around the waste
- Lots of chips and rust spots
- A roll-top that is seen better days
- An old resurfacing that is failing
Questions to ask before booking
- How the room is protected while they work
- Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
- What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
- Whether the colour is mixed to match
How we handle bath re-enamelling in Meads
Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. We’re frequently asked to fix chips and rust in more than one place and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough, in Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays.
Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Meads and across East Sussex.

Common questions in Meads
Will there be a smell?
There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.
Are you a vetted contractor?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
How durable is a resurfaced bath?
Look after it and it lasts. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.
Is it messy?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.
What happens if you find more damage?
It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Yes, we frequently do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.
Do I need to be at home?
Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.
Prices and what affects them
Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Meads. The price reflects:
- Doing more than one item at once
- The colour and finish to match
- The type of damage
- The size and number of damaged areas
A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.
Getting a price from photos
Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- What it’s made of, if you know
Upload a picture of the damage and one of the whole item, with your BN20 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.
What your bath is made of matters
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
Aftercare tips
Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:
- Have chips seen to early
- Fix dripping taps quickly
- Never use suction bath mats
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Fix dripping taps quickly.
Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

When a repair is not the answer
To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:
- A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
- A bath that’s rusted through
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.
Surfaces we repair
- Victorian roll-tops
- Basins & shower trays
- Cast iron baths
- Acrylic baths
- Pressed steel baths
Can I fix it myself?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.
The process
It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, then carry out the work, which typically takes a full day. If anything looks different from your pictures, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.
- The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
- The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
- We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
- We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
- We leave it to cure, and it’s usually ready the following day.
Preparing for the visit
- Point us to the nearest place to park
- Clear the area around the damage
- Let us know about parking or access
Ask for a price
