Bath re-enamelling near Oxnam

Why repair rather than replace?

A refit takes several trades and several days. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, and the bath can be used the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why book with us

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Same prices wherever you are

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Oxnam

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, with the bath ready to use the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. Typical jobs include a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and several chips and rust patches, across cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

For landlords and businesses

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in the Scottish Borders and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Oxnam. The price depends on:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • What the surface is made of
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Send pictures for a quote

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

What a repair can’t fix

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Oxnam: your questions answered

What happens next?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

What we do, step by step

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes the best part of a day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
