Bath re-enamelling in Penybryn, done in place

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. Common call-outs are for several chips and rust patches and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off, across cast iron baths, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee.

What we can’t put right

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A metal bath with a through crack

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

What we work on

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Aftercare tips

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Why repair rather than replace?

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the whole room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing normally wins. Prices start from £350. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

For landlords and businesses

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Penybryn as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The material
  • How many areas need work
  • The type of damage

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

Quotes from your pictures

You can take the pictures on your phone. Make sure they show:

  • Any details about the material
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A photo taken from further back

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Penybryn

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes, frequently. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Do you cover the entire of Caerphilly?

Will the bath be moved?

No, it stays where it is. We work on the bath in place, with the room protected and ventilated.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

The process

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a full day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
