Our hiring checklist

Bath re-enamelling in Rhos Common without replacing anything

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, so we don’t cut corners on it. Our technicians work on cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths, and people most often call us about a peeling or bubbling previous coating and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Powys.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

What affects the price in Rhos Common

Prices start from £350. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • What kind of damage it is

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Send pictures for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Something in shot to show the size

If you’re in Rhos Common and want a price, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Rhos Common

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

FAQs for Rhos Common

How quickly can you book me in?

We will give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.

Will there be fumes?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.

When we’d advise against a repair

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A bath split right through the body
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Why repair rather than replace?

A refit takes several trades and several days. Re-enamelling takes one technician and generally one day, and the bath can be used the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why Rhos Common customers choose us

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • A fixed quote before you book
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing

The process

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes the best part of a day, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale

Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.
