- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Scotter
We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. We regularly repair pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths, and people most often call us about chips and rust in more than one place and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

Work for landlords and builders
We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Lincolnshire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.
If you manage property in Scotter, we will quote for several properties at once. Just send pictures for each address and we will price them together.
How the visit works
You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. It typically takes the best part of a day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the day after.
How to prepare
- Have a window or extractor fan available
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
How we price bath re-enamelling
Resurfacing from £350. Each job gets its own fixed quote. This is what makes a difference:
- Access to the area
- How much damage there is
- Whether we combine several jobs
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before booking.
How to get a fixed price
Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- A wider photo showing the entire bath
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- Natural light rather than flash
If you’re in Scotter and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Looking after it afterwards
To keep it looking its best for years:
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
- Respect the curing time we give you
Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, so limescale cannot build up.
Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
Common questions in Scotter
What areas do you cover?
We cover the whole UK, including Scotter and the rest of Lincolnshire. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.
Do I need to be at home?
We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.
Do you need to take the bath out?
No, it stays where it is. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.
Is there a guarantee?
All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.
Can you repair something that is been repaired before?
Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.
Will it make a mess?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.
How do I book?
Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.
Does re-enamelling smell?
Yes, while we are applying the finish. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.
Repair or replace: which is better?
Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing renews the whole surface with the bath left where it is. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
Why Scotter clients choose us
- Most jobs done in one visit
- A year’s guarantee on all work
- Same prices wherever you are
- We leave the room as we found it
Read our full price list and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.
Can I fix it myself?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
Common problems we fix in Scotter
Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.
Send us a picture if you notice any of these:
- Lots of chips and rust spots
- Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
- Wear marks under the taps
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating
Questions to ask before you book
- What protection goes down before work starts
- What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
