Bath re-enamelling in Team Colliery

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Team Colliery

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, with the bath ready to use the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. If you’re dealing with enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and thin, worn enamel in places, we can help, on basins & shower trays, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths alike.

Every job is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. It normally takes a full day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s normally ready the following day.

How to prepare

  • Open a window if you can
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Advice

Team Colliery: your questions answered

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We come back with a fixed price, plus dates. You’re under no obligation.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed price from your pictures. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.

How long does re-enamelling last?

Look after it and it lasts. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.

10 questions to ask before booking

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

When we would advise against a repair

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Team Colliery. The price depends on:

  • How many areas need work
  • What the surface is made of
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The type of damage

We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Team Colliery. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed quote

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. There’s no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
