Bath re-enamelling in The Knap, done in place
After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, without any of the disruption of replacing it. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. Our repair technicians work on basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths, and people most often call us about brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and chips and rust in more than one place.
Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Looking after it afterwards
It’s all simple stuff:
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
- Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
- Keep suction mats out of the bath
- Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.
The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
Why repair rather than replace?
Replacing the bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the walls and tiles and several days without a working bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish with the bath left where it is. Prices start from £350. Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

How it works
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take a full day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
- The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
- We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
- The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Let us know about parking or access
- Ensure the room can be ventilated

Related advice
How we price bath re-enamelling
Prices start from £350. There is no area surcharge for The Knap. The price reflects:
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- Doing more than one item at once
- The colour and finish to match
- How many areas need work
A repair normally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.
Quotes from your pictures
Phone pictures are fine, there’s no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can give you a fixed quote the same day in most cases.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
