About our bath re-enamelling in Tower Hill

If your bath is sound but looks tired, resurfacing is normally the best value. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. We regularly repair acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and pressed steel baths, and common reasons people get in touch are several chips and rust patches and an old resurfacing that’s failing.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before booking.

What happens on the day

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you are not left guessing. On site, it takes the best part of a day for most jobs. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.

Before we arrive

Should you replace it?

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Resurfacing takes one technician and normally a day. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Older baths often have several problems at once: dull areas, chips, rust and staining. Re-enamelling deals with all of them in one go.

10 questions to ask before booking

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. There is no area surcharge for Tower Hill. The price reflects:

  • How much damage there is
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Tower Hill: your questions answered

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

What happens after I send pictures?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Do you cover Tower Hill?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Tower Hill and the rest of Hertfordshire. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How long does re-enamelling last?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send pictures.

Does re-enamelling smell?

Yes, while we’re applying the finish. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, so limescale can’t build up.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
