Bath re-enamelling in Turnditch

Work for landlords and builders

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Derbyshire and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

About our bath re-enamelling in Turnditch

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, with the bath ready to use the following day. Nothing is disconnected or removed. We are often asked to fix a bath in a colour that no longer suits and a peeling or bubbling previous coating, in Victorian roll-tops, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The type of damage
  • Access to the area

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Quotes from your photos

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • The material, if you know it
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

To get a price, send two or three pictures using our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Turnditch: your questions answered

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You will get a fixed quote back, generally with dates to choose from. You’re under no obligation.

Will the bath be moved?

No, it stays where it is. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room protected and ventilated.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Can you price it without visiting?

Typically, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working, which fades afterwards.

How long does re-enamelling last?

It depends on preparation, use and care. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Common problems we fix in Turnditch

Older baths frequently have several problems at once: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Re-enamelling deals with all of them in one go.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing

Questions to ask before booking

  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • How the colour is matched

How to compare quotes

Repair or replace: which is better?

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Nothing else is disturbed. Prices start from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Turnditch. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

What you get with us

  • Colour-matched on site
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

What happens on the day

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Allow a full day from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to care for it.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
