About our bath re-enamelling in West Hallam

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. If you’re dealing with a roll-top that’s seen better days and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough, we can help, on cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops alike.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

When to call us in West Hallam

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and scrubbing it wears it down further. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

What affects the price in West Hallam

Prices start from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to West Hallam. The price depends on:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How much damage there is
  • The material

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Quotes from your photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed quote without visiting.

FAQs for West Hallam

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Are there extra charges for West Hallam?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

How do I book?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Is there a smell?

Yes, while we’re applying the finish. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.

What happens next?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

When a repair isn’t the answer

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, so limescale cannot build up.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take most of the day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

Advice

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Repairing versus replacing in West Hallam

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the entire room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing usually wins. Prices start from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
