Bath re-enamelling near Ynysawdre

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Ynysawdre

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. We are often asked to fix a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it, in cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. There’s no charge for travel to Ynysawdre. The price comes down to:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

How to get a fixed price

When you take your photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Any details about the material
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Where you are, by postcode

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Should you replace it?

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

What you get with us

The process

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job usually takes the best part of a day. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s typically ready the following day.

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Get any chip repaired quickly

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading and make the job bigger. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

Landlord and trade work in Ynysawdre

For anyone letting property in or around Ynysawdre, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we’ll price them together.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Ynysawdre?

Often the bath has just had decades of use, with nothing wrong except the surface. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is typically as strong as ever.

Look out for these signs:

  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • A coloured bath you want in white

What your quote should include

  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • How soon you can use it again
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers

Ynysawdre questions

Do you cover the entire of Bridgend?

Across the UK, and that includes Ynysawdre. Prices don’t change with location.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the whole bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

Can tenants book a repair?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

What happens if you find more damage?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Resurfacing from £350. We give a fixed price from your photos. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your CF32 postcode.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Bridgend.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.
