Agar Town: your questions answered

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

What happens next?

We come back with a fixed quote. There is no obligation to book.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. If photos don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

In most cases. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

Do you charge for travel?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Bath repair in Agar Town without replacing anything

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. We work on roll-top & freestanding, acrylic and whirlpool & spa baths, and the jobs we see most are chips along the edge of the bath and damage beneath the taps.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Greater London.

Repair or replace: which is better?

People frequently assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Normally it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Our bath repair starts from £95. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • No extra charge for your area
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

See our pricing and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

What we do, step by step

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Allow two to three hours for most chips. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.

How to prepare

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for Agar Town. What changes the price is:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The material

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Quotes from your photos

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Something in shot to show the size

For a price in Agar Town, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

When to call us in Agar Town

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and building work is a common culprit. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: the bath is not properly supported, so it flexes under weight.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Rusty patches near the plughole

Before booking anyone

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • When it can be used again
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
