Should you replace it?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the entire surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Alvecote. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Bath repair in Alvecote without replacing anything

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the day after. You won’t need a plumber or tiler, because the bath doesn’t move. We are frequently asked to fix chips on the rim or sides and scuffs and scratches in the surface, across acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

Before and after: a chipped, rust-stained bath around the plughole

How the visit works

Arrival times are agreed in advance. On site, it takes a few hours, depending on the damage in most cases. The room is left tidy and you will know when it can be used.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Alvecote: your questions answered

What areas do you cover?

We cover the whole UK, including Alvecote and the rest of Staffordshire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we’ll confirm dates.

How long before I can use the bath?

Generally the next day. We confirm the time before we leave.

Will the repair show?

On a bath in good condition, a colour matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Usually. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Staffordshire.

Do you need bath repair in Alvecote?

A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and fittings press hard against the enamel. Sooner or later, most baths pick up a chip.

Common reasons people in Alvecote contact us are:

  • Chips caused by builders
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose

Before you book anyone

  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • If travel is included in the price
  • Who turns up on the day
  • How soon you can use it again

How to compare quotes

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Alvecote. The price comes down to:

  • Access to the area
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Unusual colours or finishes

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Quotes from your pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth

Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and water can get through to the floor below.

For landlords and businesses

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.
