Bath repair in Arminghall

Should you replace it?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. If the entire surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Bath repair in Arminghall without replacing anything

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We regularly repair cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding, and common reasons people get in touch are chips along the edge of the bath and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Your questions about bath repair in Arminghall

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Do you come to Arminghall?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Arminghall. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and we’ll quote them together.

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use

Care for the repair the same way as the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to Arminghall. The price depends on:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The material
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Natural light rather than flash

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Common problems we fix in Arminghall

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • A cracked acrylic bath

10 questions to ask before booking

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

What we cannot put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

What we do, step by step

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take two to three hours for most chips. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
