About our bath repair in Baddiley

Bath repair is our most common job. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, generally in a single visit. We’re frequently asked to fix a cracked acrylic bath and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose, in pressed steel enamel, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Work for landlords and builders

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby

Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Why repair rather than replace?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it takes one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Prices start from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What you get with us

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Typically one visit, start to finish
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

Baddiley questions

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Generally, yes, if we can reach behind it. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. If there is more, we will tell you before starting.

What areas do you cover?

The entire UK, including all of Cheshire East. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Generally the following day. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

What do you need from me?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

Can you redo an old repair?

Regularly. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Typically, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a photo.

What we’re called out for in Baddiley

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips, closely followed by shower heads. Fittings cause damage too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

Choosing a repair company

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a few hours, depending on the damage. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Honest limits

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • A steel bath rusted through

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
