Bath repair in Bridge Green

Common problems we fix in Bridge Green

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, a chip that reaches the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Chips caused by builders
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic

About our bath repair in Bridge Green

Whatever the damage, the aim is the same: a repair that’s smooth, sound and hard to spot. We prepare the area properly, fill and shape it, then match the colour and gloss so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. If you are dealing with a hole punched through by something heavy and rust spots around the plughole, we can help, on whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel alike.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. It generally takes a morning or an afternoon, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Advice

Your questions about bath repair in Bridge Green

What do you need from me?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

In most cases. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so access behind the panel is important.

What happens if you find more damage?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners in Bridge Green.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Do you come to Bridge Green?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Bridge Green. Send pictures and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

What a repair cannot fix

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Should you replace it?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it takes one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Our bath repair starts from £95. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby

There’s nothing special to do after a repair. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and give it a rinse after each bath.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

Landlord and trade work in Bridge Green

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
