What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How much damage there is

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Send photos for a quote

You can take the photos on your phone, there’s no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Details of any past repairs
  • The material, if you know it
  • Something in shot to show the size

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos using our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

How we handle bath repair in Broad Oak

Most of our bath repairs take a few hours, and you can generally bathe again the following day. You will not need a plumber or tiler, because nothing is disconnected. We’re frequently asked to fix a cracked acrylic bath and chips caused by builders, across roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and acrylic.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll come back.

Broad Oak questions

How much does bath repair cost in Broad Oak?

Repairs from £95. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Usually, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a photo.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Repair or replace in Broad Oak?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. In most cases it doesn’t: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Prices start from £95. Compared with replacing, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

What we do, step by step

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. Allow two to three hours for most chips.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

What we’re called out for in Broad Oak

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips. Fittings cause damage too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • A chipped rim or side

Our hiring checklist

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath, avoiding abrasives.

A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

What we can’t put right

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:

  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.
