Bath repair for Carpenders Park homes

Bath repair in Carpenders Park, done in place

Bath repair is our most common job. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. If you are dealing with scratches you can feel with a fingernail and chips under the taps, we can help, on whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel alike.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Repairing versus replacing in Carpenders Park

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Our bath repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why book with us

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Work done at your home or business
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

How it works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job normally takes two to three hours for most chips. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, typically the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Getting a price

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Related advice

What a repair can’t fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What the surface is made of

We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Carpenders Park. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

What we are called out for in Carpenders Park

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

Look out for any of the following:

  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Chips caused by builders

Questions to ask before you book

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Aftercare advice
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • If travel is included in the price

Choosing a repair company

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

For landlords and businesses

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
