DIY repairs versus a professional job

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Bath repair in Chapel Row without replacing anything

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. A repair stops both. We’re often asked to fix chips on the rim or sides and snagging damage from a refit, on acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

For landlords and businesses

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

How the visit works

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to a few hours, depending on the damage, tidy-up included.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Ensure the area is dry

Advice

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

Honest limits

We will not take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for Chapel Row. The price reflects:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The material
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • What kind of damage it is

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Quotes from your pictures

Two or three clear photos are normally enough. Try to include:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Details of any past repairs
  • The material, if you know it

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

Aftercare tips

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so early repair keeps the cost down.

Repairing versus replacing in Chapel Row

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it takes one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Prices start from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Chapel Row. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
