How we handle bath repair in Clarendon Park

Repairing baths is what we do most. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. We regularly repair cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding, and the jobs we see most are a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and chips under the taps.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Clarendon Park as everywhere else we work.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel

How it works

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take a morning or an afternoon. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can generally use the bath the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Getting a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Advice

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, the panel may not fit the new one, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. A repair skips all of it. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before using the bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water cannot get in. Take it off before we arrive.

When to call us in Clarendon Park

Damage during fitting is very common. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, and the damage isn’t always spotted until later. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Holes from dropped items
  • Chips caused by builders
  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • A chipped rim or side

Choosing a repair company

Your questions about bath repair in Clarendon Park

Do the materials smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

Are you accredited?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Do you charge for travel?

There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Generally, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a picture.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to Clarendon Park. The price comes down to:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How much damage there is
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.

Quotes from your pictures

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Email us a picture of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, and tell us you are in Clarendon Park, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.
