Bath repair for Clyro homes

About our bath repair in Clyro

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath. You can typically use the bath the following day. If you’re dealing with chips caused by builders and chips under the taps, we can normally put it right, on acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel alike.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Clyro and across Herefordshire.

FAQs for Clyro

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

What happens next?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Generally the day after. We confirm the time before we leave.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

How the visit works

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which normally takes two to three hours for most chips. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Advice

Aftercare tips

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.

Repairing versus replacing in Clyro

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the entire surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Prices start from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why Clyro clients choose us

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • A fixed quote before you book
  • One-year guarantee on every repair

Repairs by material

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. These are the things that affect it:

  • The type of damage
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many items we do on one visit

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Getting a price from photos

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Any details about the material
  • A picture taken from further back
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Do you need bath repair in Clyro?

Rust tends to begin where water collects, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Chips caused by builders
  • A chipped rim or side
  • A hole punched through by something heavy

What your quote should include

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • What prep work is covered
  • How long it needs to cure

Our hiring checklist

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

What we cannot put right

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on
