Need bath repair in Cook's Green?

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Cook's Green. What changes the price is:

  • The material and finish
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The type of damage
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed quote

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Natural light rather than flash

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures using our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Bath repair in Cook's Green, done in place

Repairing baths is what we do most. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. We regularly repair acrylic, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths, and the jobs we see most are scuffs and scratches in the surface and chips under the taps.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll come back.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

How it works

You don’t need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Keeping it looking good

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, as they can leave rust marks. And fix dripping taps promptly.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

Your questions about bath repair in Cook's Green

Do you work in Cook's Green?

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before.

Should you replace it?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Prices start from £95. Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Chips caused by builders
  • A chipped rim or side
  • Impact holes in acrylic

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
