Bath repair for Craigmillar homes

Bath repair in Craigmillar, done in place

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and you can normally bathe again the day after. There’s no need to book a plumber or tiler, because nothing is disconnected. We regularly repair whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and pressed steel enamel, and the jobs we see most are scuffs and scratches in the surface and a hole punched through by something heavy.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Before and after: a chipped, rust-stained bath around the plughole

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

Landlord and trade work in Craigmillar

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details and we will arrange it.

How it works

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take a few hours, depending on the damage, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Related advice

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before using the bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

When we’d advise against a repair

A repair is not always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic

Should you replace it?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Why book with us

  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What kind of damage it is
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material and finish

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Details of any past repairs
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • What it’s made of, if you know

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Common questions in Craigmillar

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide. Prices do not change with location.

Can tenants book a repair?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

How do I book?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Usually, yes. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send photos.

Is a bath repair permanent?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.
