About our bath repair in Cwmdu
Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We are frequently asked to fix scratches you can feel with a fingernail and impact holes in acrylic, in whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we’ve gone.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?
Typically, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.
How it works
You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. It typically takes a morning or an afternoon, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
How to prepare
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Related advice
Repairs by material
Acrylic
Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.
Looking after it afterwards
Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:
- Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
- Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
- A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
There is nothing special to do after a repair, just sensible cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and give it a rinse after each bath.
Small chips are quick to repair. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so early repair saves time and money.

- The colour and finish to match

- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Cwmdu. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
