Bath repair in Dogslacks

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

Bath repair at your home in Dogslacks

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the day after. There’s no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath doesn’t move. Whether it’s hairline or through cracks in acrylic and scuffs and scratches in the surface, we can normally put it right, on roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths alike.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

Dogslacks questions

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Is there any odour?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

Do you cover Dogslacks?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Dogslacks. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

How invisible is a bath repair?

On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Why repair rather than replace?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it takes one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Why us?

  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Do not leave a fresh chip for long
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath without abrasive products.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

The process

Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes two to three hours for most chips, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Clear the area around the damage

Ask for a price

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

Related advice

What a repair can’t fix

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we work on in Dogslacks

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

For landlords and businesses

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Signs you need bath repair in Dogslacks

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, any chip down to the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Holes from dropped items

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Who will actually do the work

How to compare quotes

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. You will know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • The material and finish
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The size and number of damaged areas

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The material, if you know it
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed price the same day in most cases.
