Bath repair near Drylaw

Bath repair in Drylaw without replacing anything

Whatever has happened to the bath, we aim for the same result: a repair that’s smooth, sound and hard to spot. We prepare the area properly, fill and shape it, then match the colour and gloss so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. We are frequently asked to fix a chip where the taps sit and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, in roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and acrylic.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will sort it.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Access to the area
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple:

  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so early repair keeps the cost down.

Repair or replace: which is better?

People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Prices start from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What we do, step by step

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take a morning or an afternoon. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Advice

Do you need bath repair in Drylaw?

Many chips happen while the bathroom is being fitted. Tradespeople drop tools and tiles into the bath, frequently before anyone notices. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • A chipped rim or side
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail

How to compare quotes

Work for landlords and builders

For anyone letting property in or around Drylaw, we will quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we’ll price them together.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

What a repair cannot fix

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
