Bath repair in Energlyn, done in place

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We are frequently asked to fix a hole punched through by something heavy and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, on roll-top & freestanding, acrylic and cast iron enamel.

All our work comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Caerphilly.

How it works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a few hours, depending on the damage. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

What a repair cannot fix

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Materials we work on in Energlyn

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic

Do you need bath repair in Energlyn?

Damage during fitting is very common. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, and the damage isn’t always spotted until later. We repair snagging damage like this regularly.

Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:

  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting

How to compare quotes

Landlords, agents and businesses in Energlyn

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Energlyn as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material and finish
  • The size and number of damaged areas

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You will see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Getting a price from pictures

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • One picture of the entire bath

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.

How to look after the repair

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Take it off before we arrive.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Prices start from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.
