How we handle bath repair in Fleur-de-lis

We see every kind of bath damage: chips from dropped bottles, rust round the plughole, cracks in acrylic and holes from falling tools. All of it is repaired where the bath stands. We are frequently asked to fix a chipped rim or side and rust by the waste and overflow, across roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Looking after it afterwards

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

A small chip is a quick job. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. You will know the full cost before booking. We take into account:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How many areas need work
  • The material and finish

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Getting a price from pictures

Two or three clear photos are typically enough. It helps if you send:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

To get a price, send two or three pictures through our quote form or ring us. We’ll say right away if a repair is the right fix.

Fleur-de-lis questions

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide, so Fleur-de-lis is covered. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

What happens after I send photos?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Are there extra charges for Fleur-de-lis?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

What does bath repair cost?

Prices start from £95. We give a fixed quote based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the whole item and your postcode.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

How the visit works

You don’t need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It typically takes two to three hours for most chips, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Repair or replace in Fleur-de-lis?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Why us?

  • Work done at your home or business
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Same prices wherever you are

Work for landlords and builders

If you manage property in Fleur-de-lis, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we will price them together.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Common problems we fix in Fleur-de-lis

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On steel and cast iron baths, a chip that reaches the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Chips under the taps
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Chips along the edge of the bath

Before booking anyone

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • How soon you can use it again
  • What prep work is covered
  • What happens if they find more damage

What we can’t put right

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.
