Bath repair in Gate Foot without replacing anything

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath. Most baths can be used again the following day. Common call-outs are for damage done while the bathroom was being fitted and deep scratches in acrylic, across roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and acrylic.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Our bath repair starts from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Gate Foot. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel

Do you need bath repair in Gate Foot?

A cracked acrylic bath usually wasn’t supported properly. Legs that aren’t adjusted, a missing cradle or a soft floor let the base flex until the acrylic gives way.

The things clients typically mention when they call include:

  • Damage beneath the taps
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • A chipped rim or side
  • Rust spots around the plughole

Choosing a repair company

What we do, step by step

Visits start with a quick look at the job together. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. You can expect it to take two to three hours for most chips, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Getting a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Do not leave a fresh chip for long
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath

Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so early repair keeps the cost down.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. There is no area surcharge for Gate Foot. What changes the price is:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material and finish

Compared with replacing, repairing usually costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Send photos for a quote

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • One picture of the entire bath
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
