Bath repair in Gildersome without replacing anything

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. The method changes with the material: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. Typical jobs include damage beneath the taps and chips caused by builders, on roll-top & freestanding, acrylic and pressed steel enamel.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll come back.

FAQs for Gildersome

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Usually. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Do you work in Gildersome?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Gildersome. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Gildersome included. Travel is included in the price.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

When can I have a bath again?

Normally within a day, depending on the repair.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

How the visit works

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to a few hours.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Advice

Keeping it looking good

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath.

Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. You will know the full cost before you book. We take into account:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing typically costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Getting a price from photos

Before you send pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • One picture of the whole bath

For a price in Gildersome, the easiest route is photos: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

What a repair can’t fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we work on in Gildersome

  • Whirlpool & spa baths

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel

Why repair rather than replace?

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
